Press Release
Introducing Victor Voltage and Percy Pipe
- 1 November 2009
Victor Voltage and Percy Pipe become the focus of Country & Town’s marketing and communications strategy.
The animated characters signal a new approach to the way the company is
presenting itself to the market and will be the key elements of promotional
spend in 2010. The fictitious characters are apprentices who have just started
a training programme with the company. Victor Voltage is studying to be an
electrician and Percy Pipe a plumber.
“We are very excited about this development,” said Chris Tomlinson of Country & Town. “It is a way of differentiating the company from the competition and making our brand more memorable.”
The characters have already been added to the website and are being used in press advertising. The company is in the process of reprinting corporate stationary and other promotional material. A company van recovered with the characters in full colour will be on the road by January.
“Everybody likes cartoons,” said Country & Town’s Chris Tomlinson. “We hope that people will take an interest in this novel approach.”
The idea originated from feedback from plumbers and electricians who returned from domestic jobs saying that they had had an audience while they were doing the job. Joking that they had taken on new apprentices. Children insisted on seeing what was being done once the toolbox was open, forcing parents to stand with them. This helped to build a rapport with the parents and encouraged repeat business.
